Embrace: A Warm and Harmonious Residential Space

Infusing Love and Care into the Design

An embrace is a powerful gesture that expresses deep emotions. In the case of Embrace, it serves as the main theme of the spatial design. The goal was to create a space that not only soothes the emotions of its inhabitants but also incorporates expectations and responsibilities. The essence of home, after all, lies in the warmth, affection, and harmony within its walls.

To bring this concept to life, the design team employed a simple, subtle, and creative approach. The entrance features a screen and cabinet outlined by vertical and horizontal elements, creating a sense of expansiveness. A white background highlights the texture of the marble wall behind the television, further enhancing the overall effect.

Mirrors play a significant role in the space, creating an interplay between illusion and reality. They are strategically placed to produce a visual and path interaction, symbolizing how family members can see and connect with each other, even when they are physically apart. The use of a simple vertical body, streamlined ceiling, and softly colored bark adds to the visual harmony of the space.

Reflective materials were used as windows to facilitate a spatial dialogue. This design choice allows different areas of the home to observe and interact with each other through the mirror, symbolizing the harmony within the family. The result is a space that not only looks visually stunning but also fosters a sense of togetherness and connection.

Embrace spans 195 square meters and is located in Taichung, Taiwan. The project started in April 2014 and was completed in August 2014. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research on the essence of home and how to infuse love and care into the environment. The use of arc lines and light harmonious tones of colors further enhances the emotional impact of the design.

Embrace has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Embrace stands out for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to its residents.
